Music-synchronized light shows for addressable LEDs

Lumora

Model your room in 3D, drop in a song and let Lumora find the beats, drums, vocals and drops. Then build the show in a timeline editor, let the starter generator or an AI do it for you, and play it live on your LEDs.

What Lumora does

Your room in 3D

Sketch the floor plan or trace a photo, place LED strips as lines, curves, rings or matrices and set where the viewer stands – effects can sweep through the field of view.

Deep song analysis

Tempo, beats and bars, instrument separation with Demucs (drums, bass, vocals, piano, guitar), polyphonic notes with Basic Pitch, chords, song sections and recurring motifs.

Editor, generator & AI

A timeline editor with 18 effects triggered by any instrument, a starter show built from the song structure – or let Claude create the show via Claude Code or MCP.

Live on real LEDs

Plays to WLED via DDP at up to ~50 FPS, with perceptual brightness calibration, power budget and latency sync. Export as FSEQ for xLights / Falcon Player or as video.

Photosensitivity-aware: a flash limiter (WCAG 2.3.1) is on by default for preview, LEDs and export. Everything runs locally on your PC.

How it works

  1. Model the room

Floor plan, room height and LED strips – or start with the example room.

  2. Connect WLED

Find controllers via mDNS, map strips to pixel ranges, calibrate brightness and latency.

  3. Add a song

Upload mp3/wav/flac/ogg – the analysis finds beats, instruments, notes and sections.

  4. Create the show

Edit clips on the timeline, generate a starter show or describe your idea to the AI.

  5. Go live

Switch the player to LIVE – or use your phone as a remote control.

Download & install

Lumora is open source and runs on Windows as a local web app.

Requirements

  • Python 3.12 or newer
  • Node.js 20 or newer (to build the interface)
  • Optional: Claude Code for the built-in AI
  • Optional: WLED controller with WS2812B / SK6812 LEDs – without hardware you can use the example room or the WLED simulator

Installation

  1. Clone the repository or download it as ZIP from GitHub.
  2. Run .\start.ps1 – it sets everything up on the first start and opens http://127.0.0.1:8000.
  3. Optional: .\create_shortcut.ps1 creates a desktop shortcut that opens Lumora in its own window.
git clone https://github.com/PaBu04/Lumora.git
cd Lumora
.\start.ps1
